Little Regulated Life

Data protection: a page for schools

For SENCOs, data protection leads and heads. Last updated 27 October 2026.

The short version

  • No pupil accounts, no logins, no names, no photos, no free text about children.
  • The app and the Class board keep everything on the school’s own device unless a teacher presses “Share with home”.
  • What is shared is pictures (for example “maths”, “PE”, “visitor today”) under a 6-letter class code, kept for 7 days.
  • Notes from home (pilot) uses a child number, never a name, and each note is deleted after 24 hours.
  • Stored on Cloudflare (our web host). No advertising, no analytics on the app, nothing sold.

Who is responsible

For Notes from home, the school decides to use it and knows which number is which child, so the school is the controller and Little Regulated Life stores the notes on the school’s behalf (processor), deleting them after 24 hours. For Share with home, nothing stored identifies a child. For the school licence, Little Regulated Life is controller of the school contact details.

Good practice we suggest

  • Keep the list of which number is which child in school, as you would any class list.
  • Give each family only their own link (the printed slips do this).
  • Tell families what the notes are for: a quick heads-up about the morning, not a way to raise concerns. Concerns go through your usual channels.
