What’s on the feelings chart

  • A My Feelings board with a space for “I feel” and eight feelings in pictures: happy, sad, angry, scared, tired, worried, excited and calm
  • Clear pictures and a font made for early readers
  • One page, cut-ready, the same style as the full Feelings kit

How to use a feelings chart

Put it where the big feelings happen: the kitchen, the hall, the bedroom door. On calm days, point to the pictures and name them together, so the words are there when they’re needed. When a feeling arrives, ask “show me” instead of “what’s wrong”. Pointing is easier than talking when a child is overwhelmed.

Pair it with a calm choice. Once your child has shown the feeling, offer two things that help: a hug, a squeeze ball, a quiet corner. The free calm-down poster below gives you the steps.

Who it’s for

Autistic children and children with ADHD who find it hard to name feelings in the moment, children who are still learning the words, and classrooms that use a check-in board. Made by a dad for his own autistic, ADHD son.

Printing

Print on card, laminate, and stick it up at your child’s eye level. A dry-wipe pen on the laminated board lets you write the day’s feeling in the “I feel” space.
